(Nov. 16, 2006) � The Deutsche Bank Championship, in conjunction with the Stop and Shop Family Foundation and other vital partners, successfully surpassed its charitable contribution totals from each of the three previous years by raising a record $2.6 million for the Tiger Woods Foundation and several New England charities, or $1 million more than what was raised in 2005. The Championship has raised a total of $7 million over four years heading into next year�s event, which becomes an exclusive member of the high-profile PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup and promises to make the 2007 Deutsche Bank Championship the best yet. The primary beneficiary of the Deutsche Bank Championship is the Tiger Woods Learning Center, with Artists for Humanity, G-Row Boston (Girls Row), St. Mary�s Women and Children�s Center and Young Entrepreneurs Alliance (YEA) serving as beneficiaries for the second consecutive year. The Tiger Woods Learning Center (TWLC), located on 14-acres in Anaheim, California, is a youth-educational facility that will feature seven classrooms, a computer lab, multi-media center, a student lounge, a 250-seat auditorium and caf�. St. Mary's Women and Children's Center is a community-based human service agency that provides shelter, education and job training, and support services to women, teens, infants and children. A member of the Caritas Christi Health Care System, St. Mary's serves the largest population of homeless and low-income women and children in the city of Boston. St. Mary�s started as a program for pregnant and parenting teens and their infants but quickly expanded its program offerings to better address the myriad of issues affecting at-risk women, children, and families. Located in North Dorchester, Mass., St. Mary�s dates back to 1874, when an abandoned baby left on the doorstep of a Boston church eventually led to the creation of St. Mary�s Infant Asylum at the agency�s current Jones Hill location. By 1902, St. Mary�s was providing shelter and care to about 1,000 infants and unwed mothers who were likely to be cast out of their homes with nowhere to turn.
