NORTON, Mass. � World-class golf pitting the game�s greatest against one another has become as much a part of the Labor Day weekend tradition in New England as barbeques and sunburns.
This Labor Day under sunny skies, the Deutsche Bank Championship and the Tournament Players Club of Boston was a battleground for two of the world�s top golfers � Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh. It was the second time in three years these two golfers squared off to conclude the event.
NORTON, MASS., Aug. 17, 2006 � Vijay Singh, ranked No. 4 in the Official World Golf Rankings and fifth on this year�s PGA Tour money list, has committed to play in the 2006 Deutsche Bank Championship, which will take place Aug. 29-Sept. 4 at the Tournament Players Club of Boston. Singh, who won the 2004 Championship with a 16-under-par score of 268 and has earned 29 PGA Tour victories, could not defend his title last year due to a back injury that left him unable to compete.
NORTON, MASS., July 31, 2006 � Tiger Woods has announced his intention to compete at the 2006 Deutsche Bank Championship, Aug. 29-Sept. 4 at the Tournament Players Club of Boston. Woods recently completed a successful defense of his British Open championship and won his 11th major title on Sunday, July 23rd.
